Getting on Fort Bragg while Gate 5 is closed

Plan the workday around Gate 5 staying closed. All American Gate and Gruber Bridge closed at 5 a.m. on Monday, July 27, 2026. The All American Freeway is closed from the All American Gate to Zabitosky Road in both directions, and the work is expected to take up to 24 months. Gruber Road detours at the All American Freeway overpass.

Added traffic is expected at Yadkin Road, Rock Merritt Avenue, and Canopy Lane on the south side, and at Honeycutt Road, R. Miller Street, and Butner Road on the north side. NCDOT’s project is $15.5 million: replace the 50-year-old Gruber Road bridge over the freeway, and repair freeway settlement on ground that was an old landfill. Highland Paving is the contractor. The All American Gate Visitor Center stays open. That does not put Gate 5 back on a daily route.

Which gate the town drive times use

Five towns are measured to Gate 4, Yadkin Road, which is open 24/7: Fayetteville, Hope Mills, Southern Pines, Pinehurst, and Aberdeen. Spring Lake is measured to Gate 10, Honeycutt Road, also open 24/7. Each time is Google’s typical range for a Monday, Oct 5, 2026, 7:00 a.m. departure, checked 2026-10-04, from a named public address. The ID-check line is not in the range.

Manchester Road, Gate 18, is the road name in the Moore County routes, but that gate is open only 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. on weekdays and is closed weekends and federal holidays. The measured Moore County times go to Yadkin Road instead, a gate that stays open on weekends and federal holidays. Rock Merritt and Butner Road have the same weekday-daytime limit. A shift outside those hours needs one of the eight 24-hour gates.

Visitor passes

The All American Visitor Control Center is Building H-1575, outside ACP 5 on the All American Highway. It is open 5 a.m. to 9 p.m., seven days a week. Visitors get the pass there, then drive on through another gate. Gate 5 itself is closed.

Overnight, while that center is closed, a 1-day pass is available at Canopy Lane Gate from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Sponsored commercial vendors and contractors use the Truck Plaza Visitor Control Center, off Cook Street, Building K-1153, outside ACP 16. Hours are 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday to Friday, and 5 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Personal vehicles are not the Truck Plaza’s traffic. Gate 16 is commercial vehicles only.

An online visitor-pass link is on the garrison home page. The garrison’s My Army Post App posts live gate-traffic updates.
